Description

The Borderline project is a visual investigation that seeks to question models of urban development and transportation systems in Santiago de Chile.

The points of connection and scale with various cities around the world complete this reflection on the reality and fiction of mobility in the global landscape. The project is composed of four work series. The BORDERLINE series highlights the high levels of segregation in Santiago. Through the juxtaposition of images captured along diverse routes on the city’s highways—both north-south and east-west—it proposes a reorganization and integration of geographically distant and socially segregated points.

LANDING presents frame-by-frame animations that fictionalize the exact moments of landing in Buenos Aires, Montevideo, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.

DEPARTURES & ARRIVALS shows two perspectives of a European train station, capturing the posture of travelers as they await their next journey, just beneath the display of intercity arrivals and departures.

MEMORY STICK documents the unusual repurposing of railway track fragments embedded in various streets of Santiago—remnants of Chile’s dismantled rail system, now seen elevated as tension supports in the city’s public power grid.

The exhibition of this material took place in Chile in 2012.
