Lola Álvarez Bravo (1903–1993) was one of Mexico's most prolific photographers. Her career spanned fifty years, during which she combined commercial practice and teaching with the exploration of her artistic interests. Lola was extraordinary both as a woman and as an artist. Throughout her life, she maintained friendships with a diverse group of intellectuals and was part of a dynamic circle of artists. She created countless commissioned works for various private and government organizations, in addition to taking photographs to satisfy her aesthetic pursuits.
