Founded in 1958, Akadem Gorodok was the main educational and scientific center of Siberia (in the former USSR), home to 65,000 scientists and over 40 kilometers of underground halls. Pablo Ortíz Monasterio, one of the most prominent figures in Mexican graphic journalism, offers his unique perspective on the famous "city of scientists," which seems to have come straight out of a time tunnel. Monasterio's images are an invaluable document and represent one of the few existing graphic records of these facilities, whose laboratories dedicated to the study of elementary particle behavior remain among the most prestigious in the world.
