Description
Artist, photographer, teacher, and curator for over ten years at the photographic space of the Centro Cultural Rojas, Alberto Goldenstein is not only the author of a vast and complex photographic project that places him on the list of essential artists of recent decades but can also be considered one of the fundamental catalysts for the introduction of photography into the contemporary art scene in the 1990s in Buenos Aires. Here, a broad selection of his works is presented, spanning from the late 1980s to the present day, bringing together for the first time a body of work that Goldenstein has been creating for over thirty years.
In her essay, Paola Cortes Rocca highlights: "His images of objects and people, urban fragments, and interiors marked by the public propose an enthusiastic gaze not so much for the original or distinctive but for the genuine. There is something of an adolescent impulse in them, something of that excitement in the face of a new world that opens up with its range of possibilities. It sparkles with the hope placed in the here and now that we are experiencing. That imprint permeates all of Goldenstein's work and condenses into those joyful images of time slipping away, the moment being enjoyed, kids bathing on the beach or playing in the river, the silhouette of a backlit curve, the seconds in which we let ourselves live, swinging our feet, sitting on the frame of a window."
