Roberto Fernández is, himself, a rare bird in Uruguayan photography: an undisputed member of an entire generation, he has nevertheless remained relatively isolated, faithful to his personal convictions—both technical and thematic—and, above all, has maintained a constant output. This is not extraordinary in the cultural first world, where the general creative whirlwind carries on by inertia, but it is remarkable in our environment, where daily sustenance swallows up a good portion of the city's energies.
