Description
"Ultimo Sur" takes the reader on a journey to the other side of the world, blending photographs by Rodrigo Gómez Rovira and his grandfather when they and their family settled in Tierra del Fuego in 1938 after the major agrarian reform in Chile. Forty years later, the next generation went into exile in France to escape the dictatorship. It was only in the 1990s that photographer Rodrigo Gómez Rovira decided to return to Chile in search of his origins and his family's history. This hybrid book combines, in a single object, the family album created by the author's grandfather and his own photographs of this vast, magnificent, and isolated region, leaving room for imagination. We discover a laborious agricultural environment and the challenging life of the ranchers. The portraits, witnesses of a forgotten era, blend between scenes of everyday life and the wild landscapes that emerge between the mountains and the ocean.
