In the talk, the Calle Project will be explained, from its inception nearly two decades ago to the present day. Additionally, members of the project who have lived on the streets will be present to share their life stories. The support Calle has received in the photographic field and at various art fairs will be discussed. Given the positive balance over this time, there will be an analysis of how the project's reach will be expanded to cities in other countries.
Almost two decades ago, architect Jorge Mazzinghi created an innovative project. With cameras, he changed the lives of people experiencing homelessness. He has published three books and two fanzines that feature many of the photographs taken by people experiencing homelessness in Buenos Aires. There is much beauty in the photos of those living on the streets. The images flow: each photographer has a well-defined style and interests that integrate into a shared project that gives a new meaning to their lives.
CALLE is a project that fosters resilience and provides people living in vulnerable conditions on the streets, in shelters, and in homes with the opportunity to showcase their reality to the community through photographs taken with mobile devices. The intention is to reverse the usual dynamic where they are viewed by society, allowing their own perspective to come through as they navigate the city, its usual circuits, and their places of residence.
The activity does not require prior registration.
We look forward to seeing you!
