Description
This book records the work of Milagros de la Torre, a photographer recently granted the Latin American and Caribbean Guggenheim Fellowship Award. Designed by Olivier Andreotti and the Toluca Studio, it includes an introduction by Marta Gil, and consists of a compilation of the most representative series of her photographic work over the last fifteen years. Based on an austere approach and rigorous research, the artist’s universe is shown populated by criminal worlds, shadows of negatives and day-to-day objects with an intense psychological burden: tracks, stains, premonitions and disquieting inner dialogue; clothing that appears innocent at first sight, omitted presences, hands that betray and blank looks. Despite its themes, her work is suffused with uncommon subtlety and seduction.
