Description
For the last eight years, the Ediciones Larivière Prize, set up in association with the Festival of Light, has provided encouragement to many photographers. This publisher’s record in the field of photography book publishing is a clear indication of its commitment to this branch of art.
The current edition of the Larivière Prize is a book of ideas translated into images. For example, Alejandro Almaraz, who receives the award for his series “Lugares donde nunca estuve” (Places I have never been), has created almost dreamlike images by using the photographs of others to reconstruct places unknown to him by means of an aggregating, process of superimposition.
María Plotnikova, in her series “Marathon” has executed a photographic self-portrait, as she is both the central character and the photographer, having placed herself on both sides of the camera.
Calé, in his series “Buscadores” (Seekers) works with direct photographs of persons he has stopped on the street, people without faces or identity, those near phantoms in our cities.
