Description

Since the end of the last military dictatorship, it has been possible to identify, in the cultural scene of Buenos Aires, an art world formed by a network of spaces and aesthetic experiences that early and vitally renewed conventional forms of art and politics. These initiatives emerged outside of official institutions, driven by a generation that, even in the midst of dictatorial terror, imagined new ways of creating and sharing works and productions. Contemporary to the marches of the Mothers and the Grandmothers, while silhouettes of the disappeared were painted as a form of protest, a countercultural and festive world was germinating in the basements of the city. These disruptive ways of being and doing outlined an improvised micropolitics by a generation that knew how to embrace the challenge of building from their own unique approach. Excerpt from the prologue by sociologist, CONICET researcher, and UBA professor Daniela Lucena (2019).

This collection of small-format books consists of copies dedicated to photography and fulfills an old longing of ARGRA (Association of Press Photographers of the Argentine Republic), allowing the photojournalists themselves to edit and publish their work.
