Juan Travnik's camera captures sadness, that state of affairs where there is no longer room for anxiety. His images define the desolate, abandoned landscape. His photographs are, in some sense, brutal, but fundamentally political. They convey the presence/absence of people-inhabitants-citizens who do not perceive the state of affairs. Because, even though we do not see bodies in these landscapes, their actions, decisions, and negligence are sensed.
