Description
This series of little-known photographs taken in the early 1960s serves as a counterpart to the pictorial work of artist Reynaldo Luza, who was interested in the multiple nuances of the desolate landscape of the Peruvian coastal desert. They depict landscapes of a phantom, original, and magnificent Peru, and visions of the coastal sand dunes of singular and mysterious beauty, as the artist would later describe them in an exhibition. The photographs combine a formalist and abstract interest in pre-Hispanic architecture as an integral part of the desert landscape. The works in the exhibition attest to the enormous influence that this particular vision of the coastal landscape had on various generations of Peruvian photographers.
