Description
Working primarily in black and white in her native country of Mexico, Graciela Iturbide is interested in the coexistence between ancestral traditions and Catholic rituals, as well as the relationship between humans and death. She also dedicates a significant part of her work to women and their role within their social environment. In recent years, her photographs have been emptied of any human presence, revealing a strong connection to objects, nature, and animals. The book presents Graciela Iturbide's most iconic works and a significant selection of unpublished photographs, along with a series of color photographs commissioned specifically by the Fondation Cartier, which unveil a sensitive, poetic, and humanistic body of work.
