Description
According to Mercedes Halfón, "Quieta" is a book composed of photographs by Guadalupe Gaona that portrays "the slow process of dismantling an aristocratic house in Buenos Aires. This is the chosen event to photograph, a period that goes from fullness to emptiness, where a house loses its attributes of a home, ceases to be habitable, and becomes an inhospitable space." The result is a visual narrative, unaccompanied by written texts, which is highly significant in the context of Latin American photography. This publication won first place in the inaugural edition of the Fotolibro Latinoamérica contest, organized by RM in 2010. The award was granted by the jury members, consisting of Horacio Fernández, Graciela Iturbide, Martin Parr, Lesley Martin, Álvaro Sotillo, Diran Sirinian, Ramón Reverté, Alexis Fabry, and Juan Pablo Quiroz.
