Zárate, Norma
Colombian painter and printmaker (1936-1999). From her beginnings in abstract expressionism, her work enjoyed widespread recognition in her country. In a second phase, she transitioned from abstraction to pop art and later returned to figurative art. Starting in the 1970s, she created prints as a form of protest and was one of the founders of Taller 4 Rojo (Workshop 4 Red). In her final years, she focused on creating fibers and paper using discarded plant materials from Colombian industrial factories.
