Venegas, Yvonne
Yvonne Venegas was born in Long Beach, California, and grew up in the city of Tijuana. She studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York, and Arts at the University of California, San Diego. Her series on the daily life of Mrs. María Elvia de Hank received the prestigious Magnum Expression Photography Award 2010. With the series "The Most Beautiful Brides of Baja California," Venegas was distinguished with the acquisition prize of the X Biennial of Photography of the National Institute of Fine Arts. Venegas has worked as an independent photographer for The New York Times, SPIN, and VIBE New York, in addition to working alongside photographers such as Dana Lixenberg, Bruce Weber, and Juergen Teller. Her photos have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions worldwide, including a retrospective titled "You Will Never Be Younger Than This Day" in 2012 at the Carrillo Gil Art Museum. She has also participated in important group exhibitions in Mexico, Belgium, Peru, Poland, Spain, and the United States.
