Tarazona, Jaime
Jaime Tarazona (Bucaramanga, 1973) has developed his work around the paradoxes inherited from modernism by contemporary society. Notions of utopia, order, and rationality are analyzed through sculpture, collage, and painting with the aim of highlighting the power dynamics underlying them. In particular, Colombian reality is examined from a perspective focused on the periphery —the rural periphery that is constructed in opposition to the center of large cities. His work is part of the collections of the Banco de la República de Colombia, the Jorge Pérez Collection (MIAMI), and Adriana Cisneros in Miami. He lives and works in Bogotá.
