Sanchez, América

Juan Carlos Pérez adopted his artistic name from his mother, América Sánchez, from whom he also feels he inherited his artistic talent. Self-taught and influenced by his mother's artistic abilities, he was already working as a designer in Argentina in the 1960s, drawing influences from pop art and learning typographic style from the so-called Swiss School through the book "The Graphic Artist and His Design Problems" by Josef Müller-Brockmann. His arrival in Spain in 1965 brought him to Barcelona, where he has carried out most of his prolific career. He has worked for the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, La Caixa, the Barcelona City Council, the Liceo Theater, the comedy troupe Tricicle, FC Barcelona, and many other significant clients. In addition to his creative work, he also teaches at the Eina School of Design and Art and at Seeway, the School of Graphic Design, Animation, Digital Communication, and Photography in Barcelona.
