Pérez Bravo, Marta María
Bravo graduated in Painting from the National Academy of Fine Arts San Alejandro in 1979 and from the Higher Institute of Art in 1984. While studying painting at both institutions, she did a photography project for her thesis and has been working in that medium ever since. She lived in Havana until 1995, when she moved to Monterrey, Mexico. Her work explores the religious beliefs of Caribbean-African Santería as well as gender issues related to violence and motherhood. She won the Grand Prize Nudi'96 at the Human Body Photography Salon held in Havana.
