Pereira, Jorge

Born in La Plata, Argentina, in 1936, he is a painter, photographer, theorist, and designer. Since 1958, he has been involved in the creation of Constructive Art in Argentina, putting into practice the aspirations of the 1945 avant-garde. In 1960, he promoted the creation of the Vi group, which focused on rigorous abstraction, experimenting with orthogonal structures and pure colors, and where theoretical reflection raised questions about Art & Design. In 1964, he organized the Design Department at the Institute of Art Directors of Buenos Aires. In 1967, he began experimenting with Light and Movement. In 1970, he founded, along with other constructive artists, the CEV (Center for Visual Experimentation) in Argentina, which conducted experiments in abstract photography and Systems Art. In 1969, he was invited to join the Visual Communication Design department at the Faculty of Fine Arts at UNLP, a position he held until 1975. Since 1983, he has been conducting experiments based on the dialectic of Forms, which, with the inclusion of the geometry of nature, culminated in “Multi-Spatial Art” in 1994.
