Parcero, Tatiana

Tatiana Parcero (Mexico City, 1967) holds a degree in Psychology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 1995, she earned a Master of Arts with a specialization in photography from New York University and the International Center of Photography (NYU/ICP) in the USA. She began working in photography in 1985; since the early 90s, she has focused on the body and self-portrait, and she has created the technique of juxtaposing black and white photos printed on acetates over color photos. Her work encompasses photography and video, exploring concepts such as identity, memory, territory, and time, and she is currently researching migrations-immigrations. Among the distinctions she has received throughout her career are: Second Prize at the National Salon of Visual Arts, Palais de Glace, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2008; 4th place in the Art Awards at the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA), Long Beach, CA, USA, 2007; Artistic Creation Grant, Antorchas Foundation, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2000; Acquisition Award, XXXII National Young Art Meeting, INBA/CNCA, Mexico, 1997; Study Grant, Organization of American States (OAS) and Production Grant, National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA, Mexico-USA) 1992-1995; Honorable Mention for the concept of the video 'Life Lines' at the International Erotic Video Festival Claustro de Sor Juana, Mexico City, 1995. Tatiana Parcero's work is represented in the permanent collections of: The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, USA; El Museo del Barrio, Buhl Studio Inc., New York, USA; Museum of Modern Art, National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), Aguascalientes, Mexico; Centro Damián Bayón de Santa Fé, Granada, CAB Centro de Arte Caja Burgos, Spain; Miami Dade University Art Galleries, Kendall Campus, and Lowe Art Museum, Miami, USA; Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires (MAMbA), Argentina, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico. Her photographic and video work has been part of numerous and significant exhibitions in Mexico, Cuba, Spain, England, Italy, Puerto Rico, France, Argentina, and the United States.
