Neyra, José Luis

José Luis Neyra began his photography career in 1961. He was a member of the Club Fotográfico de México from 1964 to 1967, before founding the "Grupo 35.6 x 6," to which he belonged until 1970. He was also one of the founders of the Consejo Mexicano de Fotografía in 1977, with which he participated in organizing the first Latin American Photography Colloquium. He has exhibited, either individually or collectively, in Mexico and other countries in the Americas and Europe since 1971. His work has earned him multiple awards, including an honorable mention at the Salón Nuevos Valores of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA) in 1976, and the prize at the first INBA Photography Biennial in 1980. In addition to the usual platforms of photojournalism, such as newspapers like Excélsior, El Heraldo, and Ovaciones, his work can be found in the pages of magazines such as "Artes Visuales del Museo de Arte Moderno" (1980), "El Paseante" (1991), and "Apertura" (1998). The Río de Luz collection, directed by Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, dedicated one of its volumes, "Al paso del tiempo," to him in 1987.
