Martínez, Eniac

Educated at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana, the National School of Plastic Arts at UNAM, and the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York. In 1989, he received the Young Creators and Coinvestment Grant from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts of Mexico. That same year, he won a Fulbright scholarship and the Mother Jones award. Since 1987, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions, with his first solo exhibition at the Side Gallery in Newcastle, UK (1991). His work has been showcased extensively across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Eniac Martínez has produced three significant photographic essays: "Mixtecos: Norte / Sur" (1994), documenting the migration routes of Mixtec populations between Mexico and the United States; "Litorales" (2000), with Francisco Mata Tosas; and "Camino Real Tierra Adentro" (2007), exploring the historic road connecting Mexico City to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
