Marin, Jonier
He studied architecture at the University of Bogotá. His first group exhibition was at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, and he held his first solo exhibition in Copacabana. He then traveled through Europe. A pioneer of video art and conceptual photography, when Cayc from Buenos Aires presented a festival of performances in Venice in 1979, he produced his one-minute performance "Big and Small Questions." The following year, he had a solo exhibition at ICC, Antwerp, Belgium, accompanied by a catalog with a preface by Pierre Restany. Prior to this, he had participated, by invitation of Jorge Glusberg, Cayc's mentor, in Cayc exhibitions in London, Buenos Aires, Ferrara, and Paris. He settled in Paris until his return to Sao Paulo for the presentation of the first "Videopost" video show in Brazil. He created "Amazonia" for the Pinacoteca of São Paulo. He participated in "Electra" in Paris at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris. He had a retrospective in Cali at the La Tertulia Museum in 1981. In 1982, he presented his performance "Amazonia" in New York, invited by the Society of the Americas, on Park Avenue. Since then, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He has lived and worked in Paris since 1986.
