Maccio, Rómulo
At the age of 14, he began working at an advertising agency. He specialized in Graphic Arts and created decorations and theatrical scenography. He devoted himself to painting from 1956 when he held his first exhibition. In 1961, he founded the Group "Otra figuración" (Another Figuration) with Deira, Noé, and De la Vega. They exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, among others. He explored vision and perception, often breaking away from the confines of traditional frames. He exhibited extensively in his country and held shows in Paris, Mexico, New York, Milan, Bogotá, Munich, Madrid, and Edinburgh, among other cities worldwide. His work "Cárcel - Hombre" (Prison - Man) (1963) was part of the II Konex 100 Masterpieces - 100 Argentine Painters Exhibition (an anthology of Argentine painting) at the National Museum of Fine Arts (1994). Among other accolades, he received the First International Prize from the Di Tella Institute, the Guggenheim, and the Grand Prize of Honor from the National Salon. His works are housed in significant international museums.
