López, Rosario
She was born in Bogotá on December 28, 1970. She graduated as a master of fine arts from the University of Los Andes in Bogotá (1994), with her thesis "An Approach to Organs." The text illustrations first proposed a definition of photography from the 1980s, from Roland Barthes to Susan Sontag: photography is staging. The photographer chooses settings, assigns main and supporting roles, creates contexts and interpretations. The thesis also presented a critique of representation that would permeate the spirit of art education in the 1990s, with the introduction of the concept of mapping. In 1997, she traveled to London to study sculpture at the Chelsea College of Arts and Design. She has received numerous awards, scholarships, and distinctions and has participated in solo and group exhibitions both in Colombia and abroad.
