Le Parc, Julio
In 1958, he was awarded a scholarship by the French government and settled in Paris where, in 1960, he founded the GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel - Visual Art Research Group) while also being among the members of the group called New Tendency. In 1966, he held his first private exhibition at the Howard Wise Gallery (New York), and shortly after, he won the first prize at the Venice Biennale. The following year, he successfully participated in the Light and Movement exhibition organized by the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. In 1969, after the dissolution of the GRAV and his participation in the exhibition called Eight Kinetic Artists, Le Parc returned to painting, working with a range of fourteen strictly defined colors. The first retrospective of his works was held in Düsseldorf (West Germany) in mid-1972. In 1987, he also won the First Prize at the Cuenca Biennial (Ecuador).
