Hare, Pablo
He studied communications at the University of Lima, photography at the Antonio Gaudí Institute, and cinematography at the International Film and TV School in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Hare primarily works with photography and print media; since 2008, he has been publishing under the Toromuerto Press label, an editorial project that is an integral part of his practice. In his work, he explores the intersections between geography, architecture, and local history. For almost two decades, he has been an active part of Lima's independent scene, serving as co-director of Galería del Escusado (2002-2003), a founding member of the Espacio La Culpable collective (2002-2008), and currently as director and editor of Garúa, an independent space and non-profit publishing project. He has been a resident at the Academy for Media Arts, Köln, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, and Civitella Ranieri, Umbria. His work is part of the collections of the Lima Art Museum, the Stichting Foundation, and the Poniatowski Collection, among others. He has participated in numerous collective exhibitions, including: Fixing Shadows: Contemporary Peruvian Photography, 1968-2015, Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, 2016; El Teatro del Mundo, Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, 2014; Urbes Mutantes: Latin American Photography 1941-2012, International Center of Photography, New York, 2014; Ruins in Reverse, Project Space, Tate Modern, London, 2013; El show de Diana-Peru (1977-1997), Fundación Telefónica Space, Lima, 2012; Arte al Paso: contemporary collection of the Lima Art Museum, Pinacoteca de Sao Paulo, 2011; and, with a project in collaboration with Philippe Gruenberg, he participated in the 25th São Paulo Biennial, 2002.
