Gasparian, Gaspar

Son of Armenian immigrants, he dedicated his youth to the trade of fabrics and clothing in the family stores. In 1938, he invested in the textile industry and created Lanificio Brazilia. In 1940, he began photographing as an amateur and joined Foto Cine Club Bandeirante in 1942. During this period, he participated in various exhibitions and international salons. In 1950, he left Foto Cine Club Bandeirante to found the Group of Six, along with Fernando Palmério, Ricardo Belinazzi, Otávio Pini, and José de Amorim Júnior; however, he continued to participate in salons and other photographic events. He exhibited at the São Paulo Photographic Art Salon in 1944, where he won the Anchieta Prize; at the International Exhibition of Photographic Art in Rio de Janeiro in 1952, he won the silver medal.
