Duville, Matías

Born in 1974 in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, they moved to Mar del Plata, where they studied Visual Arts and Advertising. Later, they attended workshops for artwork analysis conducted by the Antorchas Foundation in Mar del Plata between 1999 and 2002. They received the grant for visual arts from the "National Fund for the Arts" (2002). Subsequently, they were awarded the visual arts encouragement grant from the "Antorchas Foundation" (2003/2005), the "TRAMA" scholarship, a cooperation and confrontation program between artists, and the scholarship from the "Workshops Program for Visual Arts" at the Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center, UBA / KUITCA 2003/2005. Among several exhibitions, notable ones include: "Distance" at Alberto Sendrós Gallery (Buenos Aires, 2003), a joint exhibition "Transversal," and an individual exhibition "Travelling" curated by Jorge Macchi at Galería Alberto Sendros, Buenos Aires (2005), and an individual exhibition "Autocine" at Macro, Rosario (2005). They have also participated in numerous group exhibitions: "Espacio Nave" Auditorium (Mar del Plata, 1999), "22 meters" Auditorium (Mar del Plata, 2000), "Confondo" (Contemporary Art Fund of Mar del Plata 2001), "2, 3, and 4 Mar del Plata, Bahia, and Tandil" at the Municipal Library of Tandil (2001), "National Salon of Rosario" (Castagnino Museum, 2002), "Curriculum 0" (Ruth Benzacar Gallery, Bs. As. 2002), "Artificial Nature" at La Casona de los Olivera (Bs. As. 2002), "El Club del Dibujo" Auditorium (Mar del Plata, 2002), and at the "National Biennial of Bahía Blanca," where they received a special mention from the jury (MAC. 2003). They work with various materials, creating tension between representation and the process carried out on the support. This condensation of material, narrative, and action leads the image to an experimental level that modifies the initial narrative.
