Dolmetsch, François
Photographer and musician born in England in 1940. He has been living in Cali, Colombia, since 1962, the year he graduated as a historian from the University of Cambridge. In 1964, he became the first photographer in Colombia to exhibit nudes at the National Art Festival in Cali, and in 1967, he was the first photographer to have an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Bogota. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions in a large number of art spaces, including the contemporary art museums of Cali, Pereira, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, and Ibague, as well as galleries and museums in Scotland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Mexico, Italy, and France. He has published two books, one of which was launched in 2003 at the La Tertulia Art Museum in Cali and featured a retrospective of his work. In addition to his photographic career, François Dolmetsch was the artistic and executive director of the Symphony Orchestra of Valle for ten years and is an exceptional gardener, which is reflected in part of his visual work. He currently resides in Cali.
