Beer, Paul
Paul Beer arrived in Colombia in 1904, escaping the economic crisis that was afflicting Germany at that time. He founded a company specializing in industrial and advertising photography. For decades, Beer successfully documented the architectural transformation of Bogotá, working for Colombian builders and architects. Between 1938 and 1942, he also undertook extensive journeys to the Colombian Amazon and Orinoco regions, living for nearly two years among the Guahíbo indigenous people. His visual testimony, comprising over two thousand negatives, holds unique and extraordinary documentary value.
