Abadia Rey, Omaira
Multimedia artist. She has been exhibiting her work since 1980, pioneering in experimental artistic photography, video art, installation and performance. She has conducted various researches on ancient photography techniques and manifestations of urban painting. The prevailing concept in her works is imagination and its symbolism, creating and constructing visual narratives, their different twists and ambiguities, the dialogue between image, form and the psychology of meanings. Throughout her artistic career, she has experimented with various techniques applied to her works, whether individually or combined: 16mm and 35mm film, experiments for one or two vertical and horizontal screens, photo sculptures. The works are presented in different broken and folded formats forming unconventional reliefs with one, two or three sides. The works are crafted using the dragon gravure photogravure system on copper plates, and the prints are made using fondinos to add color.
