Aguirre, Jorge

(Argentina 1929-1996)

Aguirre worked as a photojournalist for several Argentine media outlets from the early 1950s to the late 1980s. A respected and influential photographer, he also developed a personal body of work, mostly about life in the downtown neighborhoods of the city of Buenos Aires. He had an instinctive feel for portraying the features of his subjects, whether people, advertising, politics or scenes from everyday life, in sharp and ironic detail.
