Navarro, Óscar
(Chile 1960)
As a member of the Association of Independent Photographers (AFI), he helped to protect his colleagues as they risked their lives to document the social unrest in the streets, the protests against the Pinochet dictatorship, and the repression waged against their cameras. Many of his images are of arrests, people being beaten and subjected to violence, of marches calling for the ‘disappeared’ or deported.
