Gasparini, Paolo
(Italy-Venezuela 1934)
Venezuelan by adoption, Gasparini’s photos provide a means to understanding the diversities lying between Europe and Latin America, from Mexico to the southern reaches of the Andes, communicated in a uniquely compelling visual language of his own making. He was contracted in 1970 by Unesco to travel around Latin America for two years, before publishing Para verte mejor, America Latina (To see you better, Latin America) in 1972, an epic portrayal of poverty and marginalization.
