Avilés, José (Pepe)

Photographer, graphic designer and plastic artist, Pepe was one of the founders of the El Pobre Diablo coffee bar, which opened in 1990, the epicenter of culture in Quito for the next 25 years. The café provided an alternative space to display all manner of artistic activities, including photography. Avilés is currently embarked on a vast memory project using photos of women, images that he has been collecting for over 20 years.
